It's hard to believe that it was over 2 years ago when I tagged along with the Kardinals guys for a cruise around the Melbourne suburbs. It was the perfect Saturday afternoon.. the weather, the company, and of course, the cars.

It's getting so close now.. Craig's A is nearly ready to hit the streets.

I do like to feature some cool Vee Dubs now and again, and when browsing my archives I realised that I hadn't yet put Chris' 66 Beetle on show.

He's not in to the bright and the bling, so when Chris got his hands on the car, there was only one task... lower it.

No, these old Volkswagens don't exactly drive the best when so low (I speak from experience), but they look good, and the style is timeless.

Chris doesn't own this car anymore, but he sold it to a close friend so that he can keep an eye on it and take in a bit of 'Volksie' fever whenever he likes.

 Neat car.

I've seen this one around the circuit a fair bit, and it always manages to catch my eye every time.

Craig's A model and Shayne's roadster taking it easy in the workshop.

Back in October, we blogged about Nick's cool Cafe Racer that took first prize at the Melbourne Mods v Rockers event.

As I was in the workshop grabbing a few shots of Craigs A model,  I thought I'd get Nick to drag the bike out to pose for a few shots before I left.

A stunning creation, you have to agree.

I dropped in to the workshop tonight where some buddies work on their projects. It's good to pop in and grab some shots every now and again.

The car I always anticipate seeing the most is Craig's Ford Model A. Not just because he 'Fueled' it up with the logo on the door, but because it's such a sweet car.

This was the first photo out of the box tonight but it's late so I'll get some more up online another time.

Dwayne Vance is an up and coming hot rod artist that owns his own company called 'Future Elements'.

Based in Califorina, his client lists include names such as Mazda USA, Texaco, Oakley, Mattel, Hasbro, SpinMasters, RC2, Upper Deck, Flying Lizard Motorsports, Cobra Engineering, Chumba Racing, Foothill Fabrication, Blackstar Paintball, Echo Factory, Corel Painter, DC comics, EA Games, Bizzare Creations and Troy Lee Designs.

He was a senior designer for Mattel Hot Wheels and a Director of protective equipment at Troy Lee Designs.

He now has his own line of hot rod art an published a book called The Hot Rod Art Book: Masters of chicken Scratch. The book contains profiles of some fantastic artists involved in the hot rod scene, so as you can imagine it's right up our alley. I've been back down to Rancho Deluxe again for more shots of Ben's roadster. Yeah, a regular occurrence I know, but if one of your mates had built a car this good and you had a camera handy, what would you do?

Spotted cruising around Bright late last year, this roadster had a really cool, simple look. I think someone told me that the car had made quite a trip to get to the event, but I don't remember where it had travelled from. Any ideas?

Last night was incredibly frustrating, but yet hugely educational at the same time. I dropped in to see Ben at Rancho after sun down to set up a shoot of his newly finished roadster.

They say black cars are the hardest to shoot, and I made a point of finding that out the hard way. I'm still sorting through the photos and trying to decide how many I can confidently show to the world, so watch this space and I may get a few more up soon.

Yes, it's a Porsche. Not to the taste of every hot rod addict, I know. Well, I'm a big fan of the odd old Porka or 2, and this one looked great in the paddock at Kustom Nationals, so how could I not be a little taken by it?

Sitting on polished Fuchs wheels, the Outlaw 356 coupe sat just right, and I will be chasing it down for some more photos in the future, if I can.
